Google Ads for electricians

Legacy Point is a Google Ads agency that works only with home-service businesses. Electrical work mixes small urgent calls with large planned projects, and a good account is built to tell the two apart.

Does Google Ads work for electricians?

Yes, particularly for the larger planned jobs. People search Google for panel upgrades, EV charger installation, whole-home generators and rewiring, and those projects carry enough value to justify paying for the lead. Urgent repair searches, like a dead outlet or a tripping breaker, also convert well but are worth less per call.

The accounts that do well decide which of those they want and build for it. One campaign pointed at "electrician near me" gets a mix of everything, priced at the rate of the most expensive click.

02

How much do Google Ads cost for an electrician?

Clicks for electrician searches in competitive metro markets commonly run between $8 and $25. Cost per lead varies a lot by service: general "electrician near me" leads are cheaper and lower in value, while generator and panel-upgrade leads cost more and are worth it.

As with every trade, the number to manage is cost per booked job by service type. Below roughly $1,000 a month in a large metro, most accounts don't gather enough data to be improved much, so a small budget should be focused on one or two services.

03

Where do electrician Google Ads accounts waste the most money?

In the search terms report. Common waste in electrical accounts:

  • Do-it-yourself searches: "how to wire a three-way switch", "how to replace an outlet"
  • The power company: outage maps, bill pay, new service requests
  • Electrical supply stores, wire, breakers and parts
  • Electrician jobs, apprenticeships, licensing and exam prep
  • Commercial and industrial work, if you only do residential
  • Appliance and electronics repair, and auto electrical work
  • Searches from outside the service area

"Electric" and "electrical" are broad words, and broad match treats them generously. Phrase and exact match keywords with a maintained negative list keep the budget on people who want to hire an electrician.

04

Which electrical services are worth advertising on Google?

The ones with enough margin to carry the cost of a lead: panel and service upgrades, EV charger installation, standby generator installation, rewiring and larger remodel work. Each deserves its own ad group, ad copy and landing page, because someone searching for an EV charger installer responds to a very different ad than someone whose power is out.

Generator demand is seasonal and spikes around storms and outages. Hold some budget back for those periods, when searches and click prices both rise.

05

Should an electrician use Local Services Ads?

Yes, alongside search campaigns. Local Services Ads (the "Google Guaranteed" listings) charge per lead and appear above regular ads. Placement depends mostly on reviews, how reliably you answer, your hours and how close you are to the searcher.

They are good at catching general "electrician near me" demand. Search campaigns are better for steering budget toward specific high-value services, which Local Services Ads give you little control over.

How does Legacy Point manage Google Ads for electricians?

Legacy Point manages Google Ads and nothing else: no websites, no SEO, no social media. The work follows the same pattern in every account:

  • Free audit first. Read-only access, a written report of where the money is going, no obligation.
  • Flat monthly fee. Never a percentage of ad spend, so there is no incentive to push your budget up.
  • You own the account. We work through delegated access that you can revoke at any time.
  • Fixed review schedule. The account is reviewed twice a week, and every change is reported in plain English.
  • Month to month. Thirty days' notice, no long-term contract.
